Основное направление работ научной группы связано с электрохимическим синтезом и исследованием свойств проводящих органических полимеров, редокс-полимеров и композитных материалов на их основе, получаемых в виде тонких пленок или фазовых слоев на поверхности электродов. В последние годы экспериментальные и теоретические исследования сфокусированы на разработку научно-технологических основ получения новых электродных материалов, изучения кинетики и механизма твердофазных процессов переноса заряда в таких материалах. Исследуются композитные электродные материалы на основе органических проводящих полимеров тиофенового ряда, преимущественно, поли-3,4-этилендиокситиофена и неорганических соединений (перезаряжаемых оксидов и других соединений переходных металлов, наночастиц благородных металлов).

Разрабатываемые металл-полимерные нанокомпозитные материалы перспективны для применения в целом ряде областей науки и техники, в частности, как энергоемкие электродные материалы для разработки новых энергозапасающих устройств (металл ионные батареи, суперконденсаторы), как катализаторы важных электрохимических процессов в топливных электрохимических элементах и сенсорах, а также как электрохромные покрытия.

Для исследования электрохимических свойств материалов используются методы циклической вольтамперометрии, вращающегося дискового электрода, спектроэлектрохимии, гальваностатических заряд-разрядных кривых, электрохимической кварцевой микрогравиметрии и спектроскопии электрохимического импеданса. Состав и структура материалов устанавливаются с помощью методов рентгеноструктурного анализа, рентгеновской фотоэлектронной спектроскопии, сканирующей и просвечивающей электронной микроскопии, ИК-спектроскопии, электронной спектроскопии поглощения и др. методов.
