Filipp S. Volkov, PhD student at the Department of Electrochemistry, has been awarded the Scholarship of the President of the Russian Federation for postgraduate students conducting research aligned with Russia’s scientific and technological development priorities.

The 2026 competition results were approved by the Council for the appointment and payment of Presidential Scholarships; according to the official protocol, 800 representatives of Russian educational and research organisations received the scholarship. St Petersburg University received 16 scholarships, including six awarded to PhD students in chemistry.

Filipp’s research is supervised by Assoc. Prof. Svetlana N. Eliseeva at the Department of Electrochemistry. His project focuses on composite cathodes based on vanadium oxides modified with conducting polymers, aiming to improve the specific capacity and long-term cycling stability of zinc-ion batteries.

The Department congratulates Filipp and his supervisor on this well-deserved recognition and wishes them further success in their research.
